Here are some tidbits from a conversation with Clerie yesterday.
- Clerie can see the sky again. In Kuwait, it was too dusty. In Bucca, it was dusty and they had a constant burn pile. She likes seeing the stars again. They remind her of a pajama parade Grandma Greenwood took the grandkids on at the "Cabit"
- She works five days a week, seven hours a day
- Five days a week, she wakes up, works out, gets a nice brunch, reads or does todos', heads off to work at about noon, comes home around nine, and goes to bed around ten.
- Cropper's much more relaxed. In face, Clerie finds the slow pace to be very boring.
- Security there is lighter. Before, detainees came to Clerie one at a time, with two guards each. Clerie checked their vitals, and passed the information to the doctor, who then sent a message back telling Clerie what to do. Now she'll talk to a group at a time, and anyone who needs to see a doctor...sees a doctor. See, before, Clerie was in a maximum-security type detainee center.
- She gets to run around a lake there. It's about a 5 km run. She also used a bike at a gym the other day, and it'd been a while, so it kicked her butt.
- Surrounding the Baghdad International Airport is the Victory Base Complex (VBC). The VBC includes Camp Victory, Camp Liberty, Camp Striker, and Camp Slayer. Right now, Clerie lives in Camp Liberty, although she might move to a different camp.
- Nearby is the Camp Cropper Theater Internment Facility. Depending on where you live in the VBC, it is a walk or a bus ride away. From Clerie's place in Camp Liberty, it's about a 45 minute bus ride.
So that's the latest. It's fun to hear new things, and it's fun for her to be in a new place. It mixes things up for her.
