This morning, Clerie took a bus from Ft. Hunter Liggette to the San Francisco area and Camp Parks. She'll be taking lots of classes there, so we'll see how exciting that is.
While acting as a body guard during a mock conflict, Clerie took a 'bullet' in the leg. "How many died?" I asked her. "None."
"How many were injured?"
"Four [out of twenty]," she said. "Not very good odds, huh?"
Yeah, for one skirmish; one in five injured. "But they make sure to give you situations worse than you'll ever encounter. They don't make it easy!"
Jonathan enjoys seeing Clerie over the webcam. When he sees pictures of her or watches videos of her, he instantly recognizes her. He's doing better at that than he was last time she was away; and now it's been just as long. (I do say, this three weeks have gone by much more quickly.)
Last night, Jonathan showed Clerie his toys and sang a couple of childrens' songs. Clerie read him a book; we pick books she knows well enough that she doesn't have to be able to read them over the camera, and then I give her cues as to what's on each page, and she'll read him he story. When she reads him nursery rhymes and songs, he gets a big grin on his face, and he laughs.
So his relationship with his mommy is a little different, but he's always happy to see her, and he's never upset that she's not here.
